Etzbal is a Guatemalan company, proud of its origins. Founded to integrate our rich cultural and
traditional heritage of fabrics, with current trends in the world of textile fashion. We create
contemporary hand finished leather handbags and handcraft accessories in Guatemala, blending
the passion, creativity and skill set of artisans, artists and design students.

As a company, we focus on sharing Guatemalan’s ancient art, patterns and designs internationally.
We aspire to be a source of work for local families and organizations that wish their handmade
masterpieces to be appreciated in the modern world.

Our goal is to contribute to the development of our country’s art by providing artisans in
disadvantaged areas with job opportunities and proper training, helping to their economic stability
and professional growth.

The pillars of our community are our artisans, who have inherited decades of knowledge in the art of
weaving natural fibers on a backstrap or standing loom. This tradition has been passed down with
pride from generation to generation within artisan families.

The uniqueness of each fabric -and distinctive techniques of each artisan- create original designs
that are rich in history and cultural innovation. This fusion, combined with the professional hand
finish touch of the artisans, is what allows handmade products to be competitive in a market that
demands outstanding quality at an affordable price.

ITC project

Central America - Women and E-Commerce

The project, which is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) in collaboration with the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) and national implementing partners, supports 200 women-led businesses from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama to export their handicrafts through e-commerce channels. Alongside work to improve product quality and design, the women-led businesses are trained and prepared to list on international online marketplaces such as Etsy and eBay, develop and optimize their own websites, use different digital marketing channels to generate traffic and sales, receive online payments, prepare orders for shipment and provide quality customer service.
