Over the foundation of friendship, we established a socially responsible Guatemalan exporter company that follows Fair Trade Principles. Achiote was born in 2015 with the interest of bringing development to communities in rural areas, add value in quality and design to Guatemalan ancestral craftsmanship, and display Guatemala as the beautiful country it is to the world.
Threads of wool and cotton are interweaved to tell the history of the ancient Mayan civilization. We transform these handwoven fabrics into unique products to offer people from all over the world a glimpse of what our culture represents and provide the care that only a handmade process achieves.
We work alongside more than 50 artisans in 7 different rural areas in Guatemala to develop the materials later used to manufacture all our products to be shipped directly from Guatemala to our retailer clients in countries like USA, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, Taiwan and others. We offer handcrafted wool and leather bags, handwoven wool and cotton rugs, scented candles on hand-painted ceramic, handwoven table mats and table runners, essential oils organizers with vintage weavings, natural palm hats, and much more.
In all of our collections, details have been carefully crafted, we add value to ensure durability, and only high-quality materials have been used. We combine functionality and beautiful design with innovation. Our goal is to create long-term relationships built upon open and honest communication. Our commitment is to provide innovative, high-quality products, with a common goal of growth and prosperity to be shared.
Women and E-commerce project linking Central American Women Business Enterprises (WBEs) with the Global Gifts and Home Decoration Market aimed to improve the export performance of women-owned businesses from Central America to sell online.
The project beneficiaries were 200 women-owned businesses involved in the sale and export of handicrafts for the gift and home decoration industries. Alongside work to improve product quality and design, the women-led businesses were trained and prepared to be listed on international online marketplaces such as Etsy and eBay, develop and optimize their own websites, use different digital marketing channels to generate traffic and sales, receive online payments, prepare orders for shipment, and provide quality customer service.
