ESCARABAZUL is a Salvadorian brand that produces handmade products such as homewear,
kitchenware, women’s accessories, babywear and office’s crafts, matching natural fabrics with
textiles and transforming them into singular handcrafted items.

The innovation lies within the technique of mixing knit with other upcycled products to create
innovative, avant-garde and daring pieces. The ancient art of knitting has been passed from
generation to generation in El Salvador and ESCARABAZUL has given it a new cultural identity, by
rethinking these hand knitted products with upcycled materials such as cotton, wood, straw and
cork.

The brand’s motto “We Transform and Combine Fabrics” synthesizes what contemporary design is
within a circular economy. For those seeking unique hand finished products that collaborate with
local Salvadorian artisans’, Esacarabzul is the brand that will make the difference.

ITC project

Central America - Women and E-Commerce

The project, which is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) in collaboration with the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) and national implementing partners, supports 200 women-led businesses from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama to export their handicrafts through e-commerce channels. Alongside work to improve product quality and design, the women-led businesses are trained and prepared to list on international online marketplaces such as Etsy and eBay, develop and optimize their own websites, use different digital marketing channels to generate traffic and sales, receive online payments, prepare orders for shipment and provide quality customer service.
